Book Report
Due by Tuesday, May 7, 2013
In our next unit of Science we will be learning about plants, animals, how they survive, and where they live. We will also we talking about what happens when their environment starts to change. The book report this trimester we will be focusing on endangered species and their habitat.
• Students will choose one endangered animal to focus on. Please make sure you can pronounce the name of your choice.
• Once you have made your selection of your animal, you are to find out the environment in which the animal lives in, what country it lives in, what is eats, how many are left, what are the life cycles it goes through, and any other interesting facts you found. Your information should be written in a multi-paragraph paper. The report does not need to be more than 1 page long. It can be typed, but I prefer handwritten.
• While you are gathering your information, one of the things you need to pay close attention to is the type of habitat the animal lives in. Is it a desert, rainforest, in the ocean, on a farm, etc.? Please use a shoebox/tissue box to make a replica of the habitat in which your animal lives. Make sure to include your animal in it.
• You will be presenting these to the class. Please be comfortable with explaining what kind of weather it is, what other types of animals live there, what they eat, and other interesting facts. By the end of this project you should be an “expert” on your endangered animal and the habitat it lives in.
